28th INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

About COBEM

COBEM, the International Congress of Mechanical Engineering, is the most important event organized by ABCM. It brings together a wide range of topics related to mechanical sciences and engineering, showcasing the work of ABCM’s 19 technical committees.

COBEM’s journey began in 1971, with the first edition held in Florianópolis. Since then, it has grown into Brazil’s most prominent forum for discussions on mechanical sciences and engineering. Over the years, COBEM has expanded its scope, attracting participants from academia, industry, and research institutions both nationally and internationally.

The COBEM 2025, with the theme “Artificial Intelligence for a Sustainable Tomorrow“, will take place from November 9 to 14, 2025, in Curitiba, at the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR). This edition aims to build on the legacy of previous congresses, providing a unique space for sharing knowledge, fostering innovation, and encouraging collaboration in mechanical engineering.

One of the highlights of COBEM 2025 is the International Symposium ICONNE, focused on nonlinear and chaotic phenomena. This partnership will elevate the visibility of engineering research in complex systems and create an environment for rich interdisciplinary dialogue.

COBEM 2025 will also feature the Exhibition of the Industrial Park of Paraná, offering participants the chance to experience the latest innovations from the local industry. This is a great opportunity for bridging the gap between academia and industry, facilitating technological transfer, networking, and the creation of new partnerships.

The congress will have a diverse scientific program, including plenary sessions, panel discussions, technical presentations, poster sessions, mini-courses, and special events such as the Scientific Communication Contest and the Pitch Day for startups. These activities are designed to inspire collaboration, spark innovative solutions, and showcase groundbreaking research in mechanical engineering.

COBEM has become an event that brings together around 1,500 participants and 1,200 contributions in each edition. Over the past 50 years, more than 20,000 students, faculty members, and industry professionals have attended, making it the key forum for exploring theory, applications, new experimental and numerical methods, technology, science policy, funding, teaching, and learning. COBEM 2025 will celebrate the 50th anniversary of ABCM, paying tribute to its history and the vital role it has played in advancing mechanical sciences in Brazil. During the opening ceremony, special moments will honor this milestone, along with a dedicated symposium that will recognize the contributions of countless professionals who have helped shape this journey.

Throughout its history, COBEM has been a place to share advances in theory, applications, and experimental methods, as well as a space to tackle the challenges and opportunities in science and technology. More than just a conference, COBEM is a vibrant gathering that brings academics and industry professionals together, enabling the exchange of knowledge and the creation of new ideas.
