Campinas<\/strong><\/a> is a major economic and technological hub located in the state of S\u00e3o Paulo, Brazil, approximately 100 kilometers northwest of the city of S\u00e3o Paulo. With a population of 1.3 million, the city combines the advantages of a large urban center with high quality of life standards. Campinas plays a strategic role in Brazil\u2019s industrial landscape, hosting major companies in sectors such as manufacturing, agriculture, energy, telecommunications, and pharmaceuticals.

\r\nThe 29th International Congress of Mechanical Engineering (COBEM 2027) will be held at the Zeferino Vaz campus of the University of Campinas<\/strong><\/a> (Universidade Estadual de Campinas, UNICAMP). Founded in 1966, UNICAMP is one of Brazil\u2019s leading institutions for higher education, research, and innovation. Recognized internationally for scientific excellence, the University maintains a strong interdisciplinary focus and a research productivity rate among the highest in Latin America. UNICAMP offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs across engineering, natural sciences, health sciences, humanities, and arts, and hosts several specialized research centers and laboratories. With a vibrant campus community and extensive partnerships with industry and academia worldwide, UNICAMP plays a central role in advancing scientific and technological development in Brazil and beyond.

\r\nGetting to Campinas and UNICAMP<\/strong>

\r\nCampinas is a transportation hub, served by major highways that cross the city, a city bus station, and two international airports.
\r\n
\r\nFor those traveling by air, flights to S\u00e3o Paulo\/Guarulhos or Viracopos International Airports are advised. The Viracopos International Airport<\/strong><\/a> is located 35 km away from UNICAMP\u2019s Zeferino Vaz campus. Participants arriving at this airport may reach Campinas by taxi or a rideshare app. Alternatively, participants may purchase bus tickets to Campinas through the Lirabus<\/strong><\/a> company, which stops at the Campinas Bus Station (Terminal Rodovi\u00e1rio de Campinas), near the city center. The\u00a0S\u00e3o Paulo\/Guarulhos International Airport<\/strong><\/a> is located 130 km away from the Zeferino Vaz campus. Participants arriving at S\u00e3o Paulo may purchase bus tickets to Campinas through the Lirabus<\/strong><\/a> or Via\u00e7\u00e3o Cometa<\/strong><\/a> companies, which stop at the Campinas Bus Station.

\r\nThe Zeferino Vaz campus is located in the Bar\u00e3o Geraldo district, about 10 km from downtown Campinas. Participants may take a taxi, a rideshare app (Uber and 99), or public transportation (bus line 332) to reach UNICAMP from downtown Campinas.

\r\nA transfer service will also be provided to take participants from downtown to the conference venue. More information on this service will be provided soon.

\r\nThe Campinas region offers visitors a variety of leisure and cultural experiences within a short distance from the city. One of the most popular areas are the of Joaquim Eg\u00eddio and Sousas<\/strong><\/a> districts, located just a few kilometers from central Campinas. Known for its preserved natural landscapes, the area features scenic countryside roads, hiking opportunities, and a selection of restaurants and caf\u00e9s that highlight the region\u2019s gastronomy. The nearby Campinas Municipal Observatory<\/strong><\/a> (Observat\u00f3rio Municipal de Campinas) and the open-air Heritage Station Complex<\/strong><\/a> (Esta\u00e7\u00e3o Cultura) also provide unique opportunities to explore local history, science, and nature.

\r\nSeveral notable destinations can also be found in the surrounding metropolitan area. The neighboring city of Holambra<\/strong><\/a>, known as the \u201cCity of Flowers,\u201d attracts visitors with its Dutch-inspired architecture, flower farms, and the annual Expoflora festival. In addition, the town of Serra Negra<\/strong><\/a> and the broader Circuito das \u00c1guas region offer natural hot springs, scenic mountain views, and artisanal products, making them popular weekend retreats. Together, these attractions make Campinas an ideal base for exploring both the cultural heritage and the natural beauty of the S\u00e3o Paulo state countryside.
