The Minascentro is an important Convention Center in Belo Horizonte that occupies an entire block of the downtown area, between the Curitiba, Guajajaras and Santa Catarina streets and the Augusto de Lima avenue. Being very close to Belo Horizonte’s Central Market, the location is highly sought by business promoters for fairs, conferences, graduations, seminars, forums and many other types of events.
The building that now houses the Convention Center was designed in the early twentieth century to be the headquarters of the Health Secretariat of State of Minas Gerais. In 1982, the whole building underwent a renovation and the theaters, auditoriums and exhibition areas were built. With a Neo-Classical architecture style, it is listed by the Municipality of Belo Horizonte as a Historical Heritage which, together with the public buildings of the Liberty Square and other buildings in the city, form a large architectural complex dating from the period between 1897 and the 1920s.
