8th Multiphase Flow Journeys

Welcome

The 8th Multiphase Flows Journey

The local organizing committee of JEM 2025 welcomes the scientific and industry community to attend the 8th Multiphase Flow Journey, to be held at the São Carlos Schol of Engineering from the University of São Paulo (EESC-USP) beginning on March 31, 2025.

The first edition of the Multiphase Flow Journey (JEM) took place in 2010 in São Carlos-SP, also known as the Brazilian center for high technology, and it was a merger between the former Brazilian Meeting on Boiling, Condensation and Multiphase Flows (EBECEM) and the first edition of the School of Multiphase Flows (EEM). Since then, it has been organized every two years with the support of the Brazilian Society of Mechanical Sciences and Engineering (ABCM), when students and researchers interested in the field of multiphase flows have the opportunity to learn from experts and exchange experiences in each edition of this event. The precursor event for the JEM, the EBECEM, was first held in 2008 in Florianópolis-SC, then its next edition happened in 2010 in the form of the JEM and was held in São Carlos-SP, followed by Curitiba-PR in 2012, Campinas-SP in 2015, São Paulo-SP in 2017, and Rio de Janeiro in 2019, simultaneously to the International Conference on Multiphase Flows (ICMF2019). After the COVID-19 pandemic the edition of 2021 was organized by the Federal University of Espírito Santo as an online conference, and its last edition was held by the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in 2023, when it went back to the single-room and in-person meeting format. Finally, the 8th JEM in 2025 is coming back to the place where it first happened and will be held in the São Carlos School of Engineering (EESC) at the University of São Paulo (USP) in São Carlos-SP.

The general expectation of the organizing committee is to act in the education of undergraduate and graduate students that are interested in multiphase flows through the first three days of lectures and hands on workshops with specialists in this field and to promote the discussion on state-of-the-art advances in multiphase flows through the presentation of high-quality research submitted to this event by themultiphase flow community and the invaluable talks by our invited keynotes.

We are looking forward to welcome you in person in São Carlos – SP!
