Thorlabs Student Travel Grant for the 8th Multiphase Flows Journey<\/strong><\/p>

\r\nWe are pleased to announce that the 8th Multiphase Flows Journey has partnered with Thorlabs Brazil to offer Thorlabs Student Travel Grants<\/strong>. These grants provide financial assistance to graduate or undergraduate students in Brazil, outside the state of S\u00e3o Paulo, helping them attend the conference in S\u00e3o Carlos, SP. Two students will be selected<\/strong> based on the quality of their submitted papers such that Thorlabs Brazil will fully reimburse the cost of round-trip airfare for these students. The selection criteria will prioritize the works of students coming from Brazil\u2019s North, Northeast, or Central-West regions.

\r\nEligibility Criteria:<\/strong>
\r\n


    \r\n \t
  1. The presenting author must be a graduate or undergraduate student<\/span> currently enrolled at a public or private institution outside the state of S\u00e3o Paulo.<\/span> Postdoctoral fellows and professors are not eligible for the grant.<\/li>
    \r\n \t
  2. The submission should follow the guidelines provided in the website of the event.<\/li>
    \r\n<\/ol>
    \r\nSelection Process:<\/strong>
    \r\n

      \r\n \t
    1. Extended abstracts will undergo peer review, following the evaluation process set by the scientific committee. Papers will be rated on a scale of 0 to 10, considering factors such as scientific innovation, methodology, results, writing quality, and the clarity of figures and graphs.<\/li>
      \r\n \t
    2. Papers meeting the eligibility criteria will be ranked based on their scores. Selection priority will be as follows:
      \r\na. Papers with a score of 7 or higher, where the presenting author is from a university in the North, Northeast, or Central-West regions.
      \r\nb. Papers with a score of 7 or higher, where the presenting author is from a university in the South or Southeast regions, excluding the state of S\u00e3o Paulo.
      \r\nc. Papers with a score between 5 and 7, where the presenting author is from a university in the North, Northeast, or Central-West regions.
      \r\nd. Papers with a score between 5 and 7, where the presenting author is from a university in the South or Southeast regions, excluding the state of S\u00e3o Paulo.<\/li>
      \r\n<\/ol>
      \r\nReward Announcement and Conditions:<\/strong>
      \r\n

        \r\n \t
      1. Selected students will be notified via their registered email and must confirm their acceptance within five business days. If a student does not respond or declines the grant, the next student in line will be selected based on the above priority criteria.<\/li>
        \r\n \t
      2. Upon acceptance, the student will have 10 business days to purchase their airfare and submit the receipt, along with bank account details, to the organizing committee at jem2025@abcm.org.br<\/a>. Thorlabs Brazil will reimburse the student within 20 business days.<\/li>
        \r\n \t
      3. Thorlabs Brazil will cover round-trip airfare up to a maximum of R$2,000. If the ticket exceeds this amount, the reimbursement will be limited to R$2,000.<\/li>
        \r\n \t
      4. Once the grant is accepted, the recipients will be announced on the event website.<\/li>
        \r\n \t
      5. The recipients of the Thorlabs Award will present their works in a dedicated session for the best papers of JEM 2025.<\/li>
        \r\n \t
      6. If the selected student does not attend the conference, they will be required to reimburse Thorlabs Brazil for the full amount of the granted travel funds.<\/li>
