Since then, it has been organized every two years with the support of the Brazilian Society of Mechanical Sciences and Engineering (ABCM), when students and researchers interested in the field of multiphase flows have the opportunity to learn from experts and exchange experiences in each edition of this event. The precursor event for the JEM, the EBECEM, was first held in 2008 in Florian\u00f3polis-SC, then its next edition happened in 2010 in the form of the JEM and was held in S\u00e3o Carlos-SP, followed by Curitiba-PR in 2012, Campinas-SP in 2015, S\u00e3o Paulo-SP in 2017, and Rio de Janeiro in 2019, simultaneously to the International Conference on Multiphase Flows (ICMF2019). After the COVID-19 pandemic the edition of 2021 was organized by the Federal University of Esp\u00edrito Santo as an online conference, and its last edition was held by the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in 2023, when it went back to the single-room and in-person meeting format.
