Florian\u00f3polis is widely known in Brazil for its natural beauty, its beaches and its vibrant culture. The city is often ranked as one of the best capitals to live in Brazil, offering an excellent quality of life, with a pleasant climate, good infrastructure, quality education and health services.<\/p>\n

Its geographical characteristics have made it a hotspot for lovers of outdoor sports; in just a few minutes, you can switch between water sports such as sailing, surfing, swimming, kite-surfing to hiking, trekking or even climbing, cycling, off-road running, among others.<\/p>\n

In contrast to this leisure environment profile (or perhaps aided by it) the city has stood out in recent years as a technology and innovation hub, contributing to the growth of the technology industry in Brazil. The city has seen a significant increase in the number of startups and entrepreneurs choosing Florian\u00f3polis as their headquarters. This is driven by the presence of quality universities, skilled labor and an environment conducive to the development of new businesses.<\/p>\n

The Alfa Technology Park (or AlfaTech), for example, is a partnership between private enterprise, the state government and UFSC, which aims to foster the development of technology and innovation in Florian\u00f3polis, Santa Catarina, and the southern region of Brazil. Founded in 2012, it offers a modern and specialized infrastructure for technology and innovation companies. It has office space, laboratories, meeting rooms and communal areas, providing an environment conducive to the development of technology-based companies.<\/p>\n

Two major universities have their headquarters in Florian\u00f3polis: the Federal University of Santa Catarina – UFSC, which will be the organizer of this event, and the State University of Santa Catarina – UDESC. Both have several campuses throughout the state of Santa Catarina and both are a strong attraction for students in various fields of knowledge, also providing a brand for the city.<\/p>\n

The campus and Convention Center are easily accessible from the city center, where it is expected that most participants will choose to stay. The distance is 10 km (6.2 miles) from the Cruz hill (around which the city extends) via the seafront avenue, or 7 km (4.2miles) from the hill in the opposite direction, via the tunnel. In both cases, the journey by car app costs around R$20.00 and takes less than 20 minutes, depending on the time of day.<\/p>\n

Herc\u00edlio Luz Airport is located on the island of Santa Catarina itself, where almost the entire city of Florian\u00f3polis extends, including the historic center with its northern seafront avenue, the neighborhoods and beaches of the north and south of the island, and the UFSC campus. In particular, it is located 17 km from the city center.<\/p>\n
