7th International Symposium on Uncertainty Quantification and Stochastic Modelling

The UNCERTAINTIES symposium is a biennial event organized by the members of the Uncertainty Quantification and Stochastic Modeling Committee of the Brazilian Society of Mechanical Sciences and Engineering (ABCM). It was created in response to the scientific community’s need for an appropriate forum to discuss academic and scientific aspects related to uncertainty quantification in mechanical systems.

This symposium has evolved from a series of small workshops to a significant international event. The first workshop was organized in 2006, with subsequent editions in 2008, 2009, and 2010, each attracting approximately 50 participants, including at least two international guests. These events were hosted at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio). In 2011, a larger symposium was held in Rio de Janeiro, supported by the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), and featured over 20 American researchers. The engagement of the scientific community led to the organization of an international symposium, which has been held regularly since 2012.

The upcoming UNCERTAINTIES 2026, the 7th edition of this International Symposium, will be a key gathering for researchers and practitioners in the field of Uncertainty Quantification and Stochastic Modeling. Its main objectives are to bring together Brazilian and international researchers from universities, research institutes, and industrial companies involved in research and development. Additionally, engineers from both public and private sectors with a focus on the event’s thematic areas, as well as undergraduate and graduate students engaged in related research projects, are also expected to attend.

The symposium offers a unique opportunity to foster collaboration, exchange ideas, and advance research in uncertainty quantification across multiple disciplines.

We look forward to welcoming you to UNCERTAINTIES 2026, in Brasília!
