The 18th International Heat Transfer Conference will be held in the Conference Center of the Windsor Hotel Complex in Barra da Tijuca. Barra da Tijuca is a modern seaside district of Rio de Janeiro, which can be easily reached from the International and the National Airports. It hosts the Olympic Park, where most of the activities of the Rio 2016 Games were held. Barra da Tijuca has the longest ocean beach in Rio de Janeiro, with several options for the practice of outdoor sports and several kiosks on the boardwalk for a great day at the beach with the family. Barra da Tijuca is just beside the city mountains, where the exuberant Tijuca Forest Park is located.
Barra da Tijuca is served by public transportation, including the subway and city buses that link the district to the city airports, to downtown and to other districts, like Copacabana and Ipanema. The hotel complex, where the convention center is located, can be reached from the International Airport in 35 minutes by taxi.
The Windsor Hotel Complex is currently composed of a five-star hotel, Windsor Barra (338 rooms), a four-star hotel, Windsor Oceânico (447 rooms) and a three-star hotel, Windsor Tower (520 rooms). Therefore, all participants can be lodged at the same complex where the conference center is located, on a hotel that suits each one’s own traveling budget.
