The International Heat Transfer Conference (IHTC) is the most important event worldwide for researchers and professionals working on heat transfer, as well as on thermal sciences and engineering. Organized every four years since 1966, IHTC is informally known as Heat Transfer Olympics. IHTC has been held in 19 cities of 11 countries around the world.

The 18th edition of IHTC will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. IHTC-18 is organized under the auspices of the Brazilian Society of Mechanical Engineering and Sciences – ABCM and of the Assembly of International Heat Transfer Conference – AIHTC. ABCM is the Brazilian Representative National Organization at AIHTC.

Following IHTC’s tradition, IHTC-18 will consist of Plenary and Keynote Lectures presented by internationally recognized experts, discussion panels, and presentation of more than 600 original research papers. The goal of IHTC-18 is to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas, methods and results on fundamental and applied topics, involving heat transfer and thermal sciences and engineering in general.

Topics for original contributions include, but are not limited to:

  • Aerospace

  • Analytical, numerical and hybrid solution methods

  • Basic and coupled heat transfer modes

  • Bioheat transfer with applications in biology and medicine

  • Boundary layer flow and heat transfer

  • Combustion and fire modelling

  • Energy conversion and storage

  • Environmental heat transfer and global warming

  • Heat engines

  • Internal flow and heat transfer

  • Inverse problems

  • Laws of thermodynamics

  • Materials processing and manufacturing

  • Micro and nanoscale heat transfer

  • Multiphysics problems
