The Polytechnic School (POLI) of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) was founded in 1892 and is mainly committed to engineering education (undergrad studies). The Coordination of Graduate Studies in Engineering at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (COPPE/UFRJ) was established in 1963, and offers a wide range of graduate programs covering various areas of engineering, from mechanical and civil engineering to electrical and nanotechnology engineering.
