We welcome you at the 26th COBEM virtual conference to share the latest knowledge and insights in Mechanical Engineering Science and Technology developed all over the world that have been shaping our present and enabling our future.
The theme of this COBEM, “Mechanical Engineering – Tailoring the Future”, is a recognition of the role of Mechanical Engineering in shaping and materializing ideas to solve today´s problems and to create possible futures. But it is as well a reminder of the important role we must have in tailoring those solutions, idealized by human creativity and enabled by science, to meet human needs and responsibilities.
Our expectation is to congregate up to 1,500 scientists, researchers, professors, students and professional engineers presenting and discussing all subjects, from New Materials to Smart Structures, from Information Technology to Advanced Manufacturing, from Artificial Intelligence to Robotics, from Nano and Micro Systems to Energy Efficiency, from Molecular Mechanics to Bioengineering, just to cite a few examples, which means covering the total range of activities under the umbrella of Mechanical Engineering Science and Technology.
The first National Mechanical Engineering Meeting, the first seed of the COBEM, was held in 1971 in Florianopolis, under the leadership of Professor Caspar Erich Stemmer, Director of the School of Engineering at that time and I was there participating as a student. Now, fifty years later, having been a protagonist and witness of so many transformations, in the world and in our Brazilian universities, organizations, and businesses, I have the honor to be the President of COBEM as a Professor at the same Mechanical Engineering Department of the Federal University of Santa Catarina. I wholeheartedly wish wish to welcome you in our virtual conference. Feel very much encouraged to submit your paper.
